The pledge is one sentence:

"A human being made this — with skill, with time, and with their name on it."

Machines are about to flood every market with almost-good-enough everything. The response isn't to hide from the tools. It's to say, out loud, which parts of your work only a person could have done — and to put a mark on it that means something.

The tile that's flat, the weld that holds, the floor that cures true. No robot kneels in your customer's shower.

Makers & Crafts

Woodwork, leather, pottery, quilts — the things people buy because a person touched them.

Writers & Artists

Work with a pulse in it. Declared honestly — including which tools helped and which didn't.

Local Food

Baked at 4 AM by somebody, not fulfilled by anybody.

How it will work

  1. Take the pledge — a plain-language declaration of what in your work is human-made, signed with your real name.
  2. Show the mark — a badge for your shop, site, packaging, or invoice that links to your pledge page.
  3. Stand behind it — the mark is borrowed trust; misuse it and you lose it. That's the entire enforcement mechanism, and it's enough.

The founding hundred

The first hundred makers and tradespeople to sign will shape the pledge and carry the mark first — free for as long as the mark exists. Tell us what you make and where you make it, and you're on the list; badges go out to the founding hundred first, as soon as they're ready.
